Port Lincoln, commonly referred to as the seafood capital of Australia, is located on the beautiful Eyre Peninsula. Situated 650kms by road from Adelaide it provides a safe and supportive environment for anyone considering re-locating to gain employment within the tuna fishing industry.

Employment
The tuna farming industry is very unique as it offers employees the opportunities to be in the fishing game and still be home every night and often based on an attractive salaried income.

Once the SBT are captured from the wild and transferred into the farms, the process of feeding them begins to ascertain the condition required for sale. They are fed twice daily, 6 days a week from January through to August.

Tuna Farming is a labour intensive operation with a range of positions to be filled, there are many rewarding career options.

Types of job that may be available and qualifications required are:
 
  • Skippers – Master 5/skipper 3 and Master 4/skipper 2
  • Engineers – MED 2 and MED 1
  • Divers – Commercial dive/Dive Medical Technician (DMT) tickets
  • Truck Drivers – Heavy Ridged (HR) and Medium Ridged (MR)
  • General Deckhands – previous fishing experience preferred but not essential
